KüFa & Mapuche Jorge Huichalaf - Küme Moģen

Welcome to SONED's Küfa, every monday we rescue food from being dumped and organize a sustainable bio-vegan world cuisine. For dessert we serve you current topics of political development worldwide.

For this Monday 4.11 we have a special guest: Jorge Huichalaf is Mapuche and lives in Chile. He talks about the current situation and presents his project of economic independence and indigenous self-government to the cooperative bank Küme Moģen.

In the words of Jorge, Küme Moģen is:
"It is a bank that recovers people's trust and, through it, you can finance health care with machis who are already committed, there is an idea of buying together, and why not, you could finance a Mapuche University. Create, for example, a Mapuche currency, or build places to spend the summer, support small businesses or family businesses that have resources, for example, the construction of wells. To concretize these initiatives and others such as the recovery of water or a seed bank, beekeeping, other types of crops. This is in the pipeline and there are many other projects. In the future we don't have a roof over our heads. The idea is to finance everything that the state doesn't give us. We invite everyone to take part and contribute with their ideas. What we have ahead of us is a path that depends on us and the struggle for this is a daily one"

Jorge Huichalaf, president of the cooperative Küme Mogen, has already presented in Zurich about the experience of the first Mapuche bank.
